You can find the details of the current BG SIG committee on our website, and we often have further details about each of our members and updates about what we are up to over on our social media pages. We have a Facebook page that you can follow for regular updates on our committee, projects, benefits, webinars and research in behavioral gerontology, and we also have a Facebook group. The group is open to anyone and is a place for you to connect with other people who are interested in behavioral gerontology.
1. How to sign in to your account on the BG SIG website
First, go to the BG SIG website and click the “Sign in” tab along the top of the home page.

Clicking “Sign in” will automatically redirect you to the ABAI website and prompt you to enter your details.

Once you have entered your details it will re-direct you back to the BG SIG website. To access your member benefits, click the “Member’s Content” tab along the top of the page. This is where you can find all the resources that you have access to as part of your BG SIG membership .

2. How to contact us with any issues
If you have any need to contact the BG SIG committee, for example with any issues logging in, problems accessing resources, further questions or queries then you can do so via the “Contact us” tab on the BG SIG website.

Fill out the form with your questions and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
3. How to call a peer consultation group
The BG SIG offers peer consultation group meetings for any member that is working clinically with older adults who feels they may benefit from some peer support from other behavioral gerontologists to help work towards a solution with a clinical issue. To call a meeting, get in contact with us using the contact us form on our website and let us know the general issue you want support with (e.g., support with an ethical issue, support with conceptualisation, support with navigating caregivers etc). Our training and education coordinator will then get in contact with you and call a meeting with other members who wish to attend. We will ask you to complete a form and we will follow a formalised format of: case presentation, clarifying questions and clinical recommendations.
4. How to watch past webinars
We offer regular webinars through the BG SIG; most of these we are able to record and they are then hosted on the member’s only section of our website. To watch them, log in to your account (as described in step 1 above), then click on “member’s content” and then “videos”. On this page you can access not only the webinars hosted by the BG SIG, but also videos from previous ABAI conference presentations that are of interest to behavioral gerontologists. Some webinars in the videos section are for information only, others are eligible for CEUs. Those with CEUs will indicate as such and you can follow the link to obtain the CEUs after watching.
5. How to access other member benefits
Under the “Member’s content” section of the website, you can also find other resources such as behavioral gerontology related podcasts, books, a reference list, and continuing education courses (i.e., CEU courses from other providers). Please note that the BG SIG does not endorse any of this content, it is purely for signposting only.
6. How to learn what we’re developing
In addition to our social media pages listed above, we also have a mailing list that you can join and the BG SIG chair provides a more in-depth explanation of what we have been working on for the last year and what we plan to work on over the following year every year at the annual business meeting at the ABAI annual conference. We have many more resources in development so keep checking back for updates, and if you have any suggestions either for resources you’d like to see or resources you’d be able to create then please get in contact!
